Cutting your own risk

Playing safely: the checks worth doing before the first deposit

Everything on this site is a way of asking one question: how much is fixed in writing before your money moves. This page is the practical half of that — the handful of checks that cost nothing and remove most of what goes wrong.

Before the account exists

  1. Read the country clause. Whether an operator takes players from where you are sits in its terms and can change at any time — which is why this comparison does not fix it as a property at any house. It is the one thing worth reading first, because everything after it depends on it.
  2. Read the verification clause before depositing, not after. Practically every house reserves the right to ask for documents. What separates them is whether the clause names a figure — an amount or a deadline. 3 of 20 here do; the three tiers are set out under casinos without KYC.
  3. Check the licence number in the issuer's register yourself. Not the seal in the footer — that is an image file. The number, the status and the company take two minutes to look up, and the entries here carry the day they were read.

Only the first one can be checked.
The identity-check clause comes in three strengths. 3 of 20 houses name an amount, another 4 name a moment without an amount, and the rest simply reserve the decision.

On the way in

  1. Send a small amount first. The doubled network fee is the price of not risking the whole sum on an address you have not used before. Wait for the credit, then send the rest.
  2. Match the network on both ends. The cashier names exactly one network beside the address; set the same one at the exchange. A transfer on the wrong network does not arrive, nobody can retrieve it, and it is the only mistake on this route that support cannot undo.
  3. Take the address from the cashier, fresh, every time. Never from a chat, an email or a screenshot.
  4. Send from an exchange you control. Then the exchange statement is your evidence if the source of the funds is queried later — which on larger withdrawals it usually is. Deposits scattered across several wallets are the slowest dispute there is.

A value-stable coin runs on several networks at once, and the networks differ in fee, confirmation time and address format. The cashier issues an address for exactly one network; anyone sending on the wrong one loses the transfer.

Where your coins sit between sessions is worth the same care: your own wallet, with two-factor authentication switched on, and the recovery phrase written down offline. A balance left at a house is a balance inside somebody else's terms.

Before the money comes back out

Get the verification done before there is a large sum to withdraw, not during it. The documents wanted are an identity document and a proof of address, both spelled exactly as the account is — differing spellings are the dullest and most common reason for a second round. Doing it early turns the most common dispute in the trade into a formality; the four disputes themselves are on the experience page.

The limits that only work if you set them early

  • A deposit limit set before the first deposit, not after the fifth. At most houses a reduction takes effect at once and an increase only after a waiting period.
  • A loss limit and a session limit — they bite faster, because they end the session in progress.
  • A time-out, which closes the account for days or weeks without giving it up.
  • Self-exclusion, the final form, when the rest is not holding.

These are the same tools listed on playing responsibly, and they belong here because they are the one part of the risk a player controls completely. Every game has a house edge; the bonus calculation elsewhere on this site is simply its written form.

Common questions

What readers actually type into the box
What should I check before depositing at a bitcoin casino?
Three things, in this order: whether the operator's terms take players from where you are, what the verification clause says and whether it names a figure, and whether the licence number is findable in the issuer's register. All three take minutes and all three decide what happens later.
How do I avoid losing a transfer?
Match the network named beside the cashier address with the one set at the exchange, and send a small amount first to an address you have not used before. A transfer on the wrong network does not arrive and cannot be retrieved by anyone.
When should I do the verification?
Before there is a large sum to withdraw. The documents are an identity document and a proof of address, spelled as the account is. Done early it is a formality; done during a withdrawal it is the most common dispute in the trade.
What is the one thing I control completely?
The limits. A deposit limit, a loss limit and a session limit set at the start, and a time-out or self-exclusion if those stop holding. Nothing else on this page is entirely in a player's hands; these are.
